Basilisk is a free, modern and functional open source browser based on XUL that offers the interface and functionality of Firefox. This web browser is based on the Goanna engine (a branch of Gecko) and is built on the unified XUL platform (UXP), which, in turn, is a separate branch of Mozilla without Servo and Rust.
Application Features:
- Full support for the JavaScripts ECMAScript 6 standard.
- Support for all NPAPI plugins (Unity, Silverlight, Flash, Java, authentication plugins, etc.).
- Support for Mozilla-style XUL/Overlay extensions.
- Experimental support for WebExtensions (in gecko-target mode). Please note that some Mozilla-specific WebExtension APIs are not yet available.
- Support for ALSA on Linux.
- WebAssembly (WASM) support.
- Support for advanced Graphite font formatting functions.
- Support for modern network cryptography: up to TLS 1.3, modern ciphers, HSTS, etc.
