BitTorrent is a client program of a peer-to-peer network aimed at the ability to download large files from the BitTorrent file sharing network. Unlike other similar networks (Kazaa, eDonkey, etc.), where the owners of the same file can be several people who have this file at once, BitTorrent provides for the file to have a single owner who is interested in distributing it.

A distinctive feature of this network is a very high file download speed, which is achieved due to the original way of issuing a file from several computers at once, even when there is not a whole file on them yet. Moreover, files of very large size are distributed through this network: movies, games, CD and DVD disc images, etc.

In addition to the advantages of this program, there are also disadvantages, the most important of which is that no file search system is provided - the download begins after clicking on the so-called torrent file (specialized link), which contains all the information about the downloaded file. Such links can be found on special sites-directories of the BitTorrent network.
