FreeArc is a very good archiver, which is equipped with a variety of compression methods, providing a high degree of data packaging and good performance.

The advantages of this program over analogues are the availability of a wide range of compression algorithms (LZMA, PPMD, TrueAudio, multimedia data compression algorithms) and filters (REP, DICT, DELTA, BCJ, LZP). In addition, special fast compression algorithms are implemented here - GRZIP for texts and Tornado for binary data. There are a total of 11 algorithms and filters.

Among the main functions of the archiver are:

• creating continuous archives with smart updates,
• AES/Blowfish/Twofish/Serpent encryption,
• modules for connecting to FAR and Total Commander
• creating self-extracting (SFX) archives and installers,
• working with archives over HTTP protocol (getting a list of files, unpacking),
• restoring archives,
• testing archives before and after any operation,
• moving files to archive, merging archives, rearchiving, archive blocking and commenting,
• file selection by size, creation time, name, attributes,
• support for basic directories on disk and in the archive, automatic generation of the archive name.

The program has flexible settings and works 2-5 times faster than other popular packers, providing the same compression ratio.
