GWX Control Panel is a convenient solution for users of the Windows 7 and 8 family of operations, with which it is very easy to get rid of the system notification about receiving Windows 10. If you do not plan to switch to the top ten in the near future, considering it raw and doubting the confidentiality of storing personal information, then you do not need an icon in the notification panel about switching to Win 10 and it can just annoy you. To fix this, it's worth using the portable GWX Control Panel tool.
In the central part of the program window, general information about the notification is displayed:
- is the Get Windows 10 alert running,
- is the Get Windows 10 service enabled,
- is the Windows System Update feature enabled,
- is the Windows 10 download folder found.
Accordingly, the value Yes says that such a function or service is working, and No is disabled. GWX Control Panel contains several tools that allow you to manage the update message to Windows 10.
The easiest way is to hide the notification icon from the tray. To do this, just click Close Get Windows 10 App: literally immediately, the tile in the form of a window will disappear from the notification bar. However, this method only temporarily solves the problem, because when the PC restarts, the icon will appear again. To more fully disable such a message, you need to click Disable Get Windows 10 App: now the intrusive notification about the new OS will not bother you.
To prevent the situation from returning to its original state with the next patch of updates from Microsoft, it is recommended to disable the system update option in terms of installing the update to Windows 10 (Disable Operating System Upgrades in Windows Update).
To top it all off, you can clean the Windows update cache, which in this case only takes up space. If there is a need to return all notifications back, then a second click on each option will restore the state of the system and the presence of the notification.
In general, GWX Control Panel is a very convenient utility that allows you to gain full control over your notification panel and comfortably use all the features of your PC without being distracted by unnecessary messages.
