MinGW is a free open source tool for Windows application development, which includes the GNU Compiler Collection(GCC) port, GNU Binutils, a set of freely distributed Windows header files and static libraries that allow you to use the Windows API, GNU debugger and other utilities.
The application supports and distributes several different key components and additional packages, including various GNU toolchain ports, such as GCC and binutils, translated into equivalent packages, and which can be used from the Windows command line or integrated into the IDE.
MinGW does not need a DLL compatibility layer, and therefore, if the program does not use the GPL license, the programs do not necessarily need to be distributed along with the source code.
Most programming languages are supported, including C, C++, Objective-C, Objective-C++, Fortran and Ada. Libraries from GCC are also used (libstdc++ for C++, libgfortran for Fortran, etc.).
