Nole 1.05

Nole is a very original program for generating music from a poem. NoLe creates several variants of melodies for your poem, plays the resulting melodies with a variety of combinations of electronic midi instruments and saves the result of your labors in a midi file. There are rich possibilities for tuning the musical instruments used, adjusting the volume, the size of the beat, tempo, and changing the tonality. You can apply several effects to the resulting sound, smooth out the motif, etc.

The program uses the following techniques:

• correspondence of sounds to notes (Agafonov V. V.)
• sound-color correspondence (Zhuravlev A. P.)
• basic motif forms (Messner E. I.).

Based on these techniques, the program has been developed:

• algorithm for automatic determination of verse size
• frequency method of melody generation
• tonal method of melody generation
• template method of melody generation
• automatic melody harmonization.
