Polybius Square is a utility for storing confidential text data in encrypted form using the Polybius square technique. This technique was invented in ancient Greece, where a table with five columns and five rows numbered from 1 to 5 was used for encryption. One letter is written to each cell of the table, and thus a pair of numbers corresponds to one letter. In this program, a 16x16 table is selected for file encryption. The order of the characters in Polybius square and is the secret key.
Main features of Polybius Square:
- Encryption of texts and files by substitution cipher,
- Two-dimensional (multialphabetic) substitution cipher,
- The use of various types of cipher - ROT13, ROT47, Atbash, Caesar Cipher (with arbitrary shift), etc.,
- Inverting bytes,
- Translating strings into hex representation,
- Frequency analysis.
