S.M.A.R.T. vision 4.1

The utility S.M.A.R.T.vision is designed for automatic diagnostics of the state of modern Hard Disk Drive (HDD, hard drive, drive) with IDE interface (ATA-3.. ATA-7), supporting S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technolodgy) self-testing technology.

The user of a computer equipped with a S.M.A.R.T. HDD and the S.M.A.R.T.vision utility will know in advance about the possible pre-emergency state of the HDD and therefore will be able to avoid losing data stored on the hard drive. S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technolodgy) is a self-testing technology developed by HDD manufacturers to ensure a higher degree of reliability of information storage. The essence of S.M.A.R.T. technology is that the hard drive itself monitors the state of its operability and is able to warn the user in advance about its pre-emergency condition.

Currently, S.M.A.R.T. technology is supported by all HDD manufacturers: Seagate, Western Digital, Quantum, Fujitsu, Maxtor, Samsung, Hitashi, IBM.
