USB_Tool is a small program to protect your computer from viruses that spread by means of AUTORUN.INF files.
The main task of USB_Tool is to prevent infection, and as a consequence - a possible system crash, not the fight against already an active virus. It does not contain any databases, and therefore does not require regular updates via the Internet. Program updates represent an extension of functionality, and are not mandatory/critical.
Features of USB_Tool:
- the detected hidden autorun file is blocked by the program, and cannot be started or deleted until it is processed,
- selection of scan objects: only hard disk partitions and/or removable drives,
- 2 ways to react when a suspicious file is detected - automatic processing, and with the user's request,
- processing of blocked files at the next OS boot,
- the ability to change a number of operating system settings that are most susceptible to virus attacks (removing their consequences),
- the availability of restoring the operability of various OS subsystems, as well as critical parameters,
- the Immunization section contains 2 options for OS settings that will help prevent the penetration of such viruses into the system,
- backups of all processed files are created,
- a log of all actions with processed files is kept,
- it is possible to work under a limited user profile,
- the function of automatic local updating of the program is provided, - if there is an old version on the computer, and a newer one is launched, a message is issued with a proposal to replace the old version with a new one. The program settings and the previous location do not change,
- the possibility of temporarily suspending the program,
- AUTORUN.INF files that do not run anything, but only create errors when opening the disk, are automatically deleted,
- if the hidden autorun file has started after all, its process is being completed in memory,
- management of USB device detection in the OS. Selective or complete,
- the possibility of hidden operation of the program - without any alerts,
- viewing the contents of the AUTORUN.INF file before deciding on the danger of the file being launched,
- automatic immunization of connected devices,
- immunized hard disk partitions are protected from renaming/deletion.
