Visual Prolog is a language designed for programming applications using artificial intelligence tools and methods and creating expert systems. The reason for the growing popularity of the Prologue was the requirement to create tools that provide a friendly interface and intelligent programs. The prologue is used when creating applications in the following areas:

• development of rapid prototypes of application programs,
• production process management,
• creation of dynamic relational databases,
• translation from one language to another,
• creation of natural language interfaces for existing systems,
• implementation of expert systems and expert system shells,
• creation of symbolic computing packages for solving equations, differentiation and integration,
• proofs of theorems and artificial intelligence packages in which the capabilities of the Prologue to provide deductive inference are used to test various theories.

Visual Prolog is a fifth-generation language that opens up a new dimension for programming.
