Xenu Link Sleuth is a free application for checking a website for broken links. Allows you to find broken links, images, frames, additional modules (plug-ins), backgrounds, graphic site maps (local image maps), style sheets, scripts and Java applets.

Broken links often appear after changing the structure of the site (deleting or changing the addresses of pages or entire sections), while a link remains on one of the pages pointing to the old page address. Such links can be both internal (leading to non-existent pages of the same site) and external (leading to non-existent pages of another site). And the task of this application is to quickly detect such dead links in order to fix them.

You specify the url, and the program displays a list of verified links sorted by various parameters. The found links are highlighted in a certain color:

• gray - the link is in the queue for verification or excluded from verification according to the specified settings,
• green - the link is available,
• red - a dead link is found or the link is temporarily unavailable.

At the end of the check, a corresponding message and a request for the formation of a report are displayed. The resulting report opens in the browser and consists of sections that were set in the program settings. The resulting report can be saved for further processing in Excel.
